Abstract
The aim of this research is to present a method of online parameter estimation for a salient-pole, three-phase synchronous generator. Two main approaches have been used, based on different theories, to prove the validity of parameter estimation results. The first approach is based on the representation of synchronous machines using the d-q model with the sequence of the Hartley Series function and the finite element model (FEM). Therefore, two sets of parameter estimation results have been predicted. In the second approach, where the synchronous machine has been represented in real form, and the obtained results have been analysed to obtain the third set of estimation results, the presentation and success of the proposed nonlinear period selection method are established using numerical simulations and compared to the results of the two present approaches. For validation purposes, all three sets of results are performed online and compared in practice.
